Indicated is a round-topped mound with exposed cairn material, sitting inside an artificial lake built to supply water for Clondalkin paper mills. In the nineteenth century it stood nearly surrounded by a deep boggy slough called Bog Larkin, making its shape appear both perfect and remarkable. The mound may have marked life, death or ownership long before the lake drowned its edges, yet the mills turned that ancient boundary into working water.
