Melt butter, warm eggs or heat water for bathing. Drop hot stones into the basin and listen for the roar. People lived beside the ringfort in County Cork, not far from the pasture where the dark soil still marks the site. The flames consumed wood and the water carried heat into cups, kettles or bodies. What they cooked has disappeared, but the red anger of stones remains buried beneath the grass.

In pasture, immediately outside NE bank of ringfort (12518). According to local information, spread of burnt material noted. Burnt material not identified though soil is dark coloured.
