Fulacht fia in Glen

Situated at the foot of the steep, S-facing slope of Knocknaveen (known locally as ‘Glan Hill’), in enclosed land directly below ‘Red John’s’ old house. It lies in the north-eastern part of the basin c. 130m WSW of another fulacht fia (MA085-018----). Its siting is very similar to MA085-016005-, which lies c. 160m further to WSW, except that this site lies 17m S of the island’s West Road. The fulacht fia comprises of a light spread of angular heat-fractured stone (E–W c. 6m, N–S c. 5.5m) was noted on the surface of this recently reclaimed (deep- ploughed) field: the field surface had previously been covered in old grassed-over cultivation ridges.
