Barrow

In reclaimed pasture 110m N of a Stream that marks the townland boundary with Fantstown and 100m S of a railway track. One of six possible barrows (LI048-085/-090----) concentrated in an area measuring 175m X 100m in the S of the townland. Not depicted on OSi historic 6-inch maps. Identified as a possible barrow on oblique aerial photograph (ASIAP) taken 05/01/2003 where monument is intersected at W by field boundary running NW-SE. No surface remains visible on Digital Globe orthoimage taken between 2011-13. Faint outline of ditch-barrow (diam. c. 7m) visible on Google Earth orthoimage taken 05/04/2006. Ditch barrow, likely dating to the Early Bronze Age. It is part of a small barrow group, indicating a possible ceremonial or funerary landscape of regional significance.
