Indicated

Standing stone

What is recorded here

Indicated is a standing stone in County Cork that has vanished from sight, leaving no surface trace behind the pasture grass. The land may have swallowed the stone during river flooding or field drainage, yet the name still points to the exact spot where rock once broke the sky. A person could stand at Indicated now and imagine the weight of the buried stone pressing upward through soil and memory.
In pasture. No visible surface trace. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 2: East and South Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1994). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
