Hot stones, lifted from fire and dropped into a hidden basin, may have boiled water for cooking or bathing beside the ringfort. The grass still covers a twelve-by-thirteen-metre spread of burnt material, while a bullaun stone and quern stone mark the edge of that forgotten kitchen. People lived twenty metres away, pulling heat from rock and giving it back in steam.
