Hot stones, boiling water, marsh air and hunger. People lived beside that stream, cooked together and watched the steam rise above Ballydwyer East. Then the land was raised, topsoil was brought in and the cooking place disappeared under a new surface. It is still there beneath the fields, waiting to be remembered through the shape of the mound and the patience of the water.

'This site is located adjacent to a small stream that runs parallel to the southern side of the old N21 road between Tralee and Castleisland, immediately west of the village of Ballydwyer. The site is located in undulating, marshy land and consists of a low sub-circular mound remaining to 0.44m in maximum height. The site measures 14m N-S by 14.5m E-W and no trough area is visible.
