Hut site in Foilatrisnig — Report the wrong picture

One chamber, four metres wide, faced the valley and waited for breath. A man may have stood inside it, listening for water or fear, while the stones held his shadow. The valley still moves around the hut, filling the silence with life.

Univallate rath KE036-059---- is situated on a level terrace on a generally steep E facing slope overlooking Gleann na nGealt. The interior of the enclosure is divided into 2 unequal portions by a field fence. The hut site KE036-059001- and Man-made underground passage KE036-059002- lie in the larger S portion. The inner wall face of the hut site, and a very short stretch of its outer face, survive to a maximum height of .4m, though generally only a single course is visible. The wall was 2.5m thick and the hut is 4.4m in diameter internally. The entrance faces ENE and was at least .8m wide. A line of 3 stones set on edge between the hut and the main entrance to the rath may formerly have defined a pathway. The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne.
