Grave Yard

Graveyard

What is recorded here

No respectable person would bury a relative in a graveyard with no church. The missing church is the reason the grave yard exists. Build the church, restore the roof, keep the gate closed and the place becomes complete.
Depicted as a roughly square field (c. 35.5m N-S; 36m E-W) on the 1841-42 OS 6-inch map and named 'Grave Yard'. On the 1939 OS 6-inch map it is depicted as roughly circular (c. 45m N-S; 42m E-W) in shape and named 'Grave Yard'. According to local knowledge this was known as the 'church field'.
