Enclosure in Farranyharpy

Situated on a rocky spur at the base of a N-facing slope. Oblong area (c. 82m E-W; 48.5m N-S) encompassing the top of the spur. The N, E and S sides are defined by the naturally-occurring steep, rocky sides of the spur. At SW-NW the defining element is a substantial scarp (H 2.7m). At the top of the naturally-occurring scarp at S and NE is a low, sod-covered stone bank/wall (Wth 1.5-2m; int. H 0.4-0.55m). Entrance was probably at ESE. The internal area slopes down from N to S. In the SE quadrant are two possible hut sites (SL019-003001-; SL019-003002-). The enclosure is divided into two unequal portions by a modern NNW-SSE field boundary. Compiled by: Patrick F.
