Fairy forts like Farranpierce belong to the old Irish landscape, not fantasy. This is a real earthen ringfort: a circular enclosure with a bank around twenty-eight metres across, set on gently sloping pastureland in County Kerry. People may have lived, stored, hidden or gathered there before the field took it back. The fairy name comes later, fed by fear, wonder and the way such places still resist ordinary explanation.

Internal diameter 28m Situated SSE of KE004-027---- on gently sloping pastureland, this site consists of a circular area enclosed by an earthen bank. The bank rises to a maximum height of 2.4m externally and on average .8m above the interior. The interior, which is at a higher level than the surrounding land, is quite overgrown.
