Enclosure in Farrannacarriga

The circular univallate enclosure marked on the OS maps was levelled in 1982. A Man-made underground passage (KE044-103001-) was revealed at that time and is apparently still preserved though there is no surface indication of its location. It was comprised of 2 drystone chambers linked by a low passage. The site of the enclosure is now marked by a level platform in an otherwise sloping field. It is located on the S side of a low hill overlooking the Anascaul valley. The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey. Ballyferriter.
