PLATFORM RATH in Farnamullan

PLATFORM RATH

What is recorded here

One platform rose above the Farnamullan fields, lifting a life or a warning above ordinary ground. Whether it served a home, a watch post or a boundary marker, the builders chose height when they could have taken flat land. That choice still stands out in the district, a small wooden or stone stage for someone who needed to see further.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as PLATFORM RATH. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
