What is recorded here
Fanygalvan holds a hazel-covered cashel where flat rock rises through a broken stone ring, marking the kind of place people still call a fairy fort. The eastern edge leans on a single boulder wall rather than a built line, as if the ground itself refused to be shaped. Someone may have stood inside that shallow circle, watching the valley shift in weather, before the name changed and the purpose blurred.
On a flat-topped knoll of rock outcrop, covered in trees and bushes and rising c. 2-4m from the undulating floor of a small circular valley in reclaimed pasture. Hachured on the 1842 and 1920 eds. of the OS 6-inch map. This hazel-covered suboval cashel (ext. dims. 27m NW-SE; 22m NE-SW) is defined by a stone spread (Wth 2.2-2.7m; ext. H 1.4-1.6m), except in the E sector. The external wall-face, constructed of horizontally laid stones, is visible and in places is overlain by a later drystone wall. The E sector is defied by a single boulder wall, which may be a later feature. The outcropping rock in the interior rises c. 1m above the stone spread.
