Fairy fort / stone ringfort in Toonagh (bunratty Upper By.)

Fairy fort / stone ringfort

What is recorded here

Fairy forts and ringforts are two names for the same stone chamber, but the first name admits the second half of the truth: human memory has thinned to myth. In Toonagh the boundary between fact and fantasy is not a defect, it is the shape of the place. A chamber built by human hands became a vessel for stories because its purpose escaped ordinary description. The stones did not lose their meaning; they translated it into a language that bypasses certainty and speaks directly to imagination.
