Fairy fort / stone ringfort in Lavallyconor

Fairy fort / stone ringfort

What is recorded here

Lavallyconor holds a forgotten ringfort on a gentle rise, though no stone still marks its edge. The land may have swallowed the wall or people may have taken the stones for another purpose. What remains is a hidden shape in memory, waiting for rain, ploughing or patience to reveal how deep the forgetting goes.
On a rise in gently undulating pastureland. Described by Wheeler in 1963 (SMR file) as 'what seems to be the remains of a stone ring-fort'. No visible surface trace survives. Compiled by: Galway Archaeological Survey Date of upload: 30 May 2017

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
