Fairy fort / stone ringfort in Lavally (kiltartan By.)

Fairy fort / stone ringfort

What is recorded here

Lavally holds a broken stone ring where human hands first shaped the land. The cashel spans thirty-one metres on a north-facing slope, its drystone wall surviving from southwest through north to east before a later field wall buried part of the original edge. It is no longer a complete fortress, yet the curve still marks the place where people stood, watched and belonged.
On a N-facing slope in farmland. Poorly preserved subcircular cashel (31m N-S; 28m E-W) defined by a drystone wall from SW through N to E. A field wall overlies the enclosing element. Compiled by: Galway Archaeological Survey, UCG Date of upload: 10 April 2019
