Fairy fort / stone ringfort in Drumharsna North

Fairy fort / stone ringfort

What is recorded here

No visible stone ringfort remains in Drumharsna North, though a circular enclosure measured forty metres across on the 1838 map. The fort has vanished into reclaimed pastureland and outcropping limestone, leaving behind a absent shape rather than a ruined one.
On a slight rise in an area of reclaimed pastureland and outcropping limestone. Marked on the 1838 edition of the OS 6-inch map as a circular enclosure (diam. c. 40m). No visible surface trace survived in the early 1950s when McCaffrey (1952, 270, no. 25a) surveyed the area. Compiled by: Galway Archaeological Survey, UCG Date of upload: 27 May 2018
