Fairy fort / stone ringfort in Castleturvin

Fairy fort / stone ringfort

What is recorded here

Fairy forts and ringforts still stand in the western fields. They are not fantasies. They are the oldest human architecture on earth. Build small. Build true. Leave the circle unbroken.
In level scrubland. Poorly preserved roughly circular cashel (diam. 30.3m) defined by a drystone wall. A field wall cuts across the monument in the SE sector and another overlies it at SW. Compiled by: Galway Archaeological Survey, UCG Date of upload: 24 November 2017

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
