What is recorded here

Mortals may have built the stone ringfort, but local legend claims fairies seized it and vanished inside. The boundary between human history and fairy legend collapses at Ballynacarriga. What looks like an abandoned human settlement may be a doorway still waiting for someone clever enough to knock.

In rough pasture, atop limestone hillock. Circular area (22.9m N-S; 23.2m E-W) enclosed by sod covered stone bank (int. H 0.55m; ext. H 1.32m). Bank best preserved ESE->NNE, becomes scarp-like NNE->ESE (int. H 0.1m; ext. H 0.8m). Interior, with outcropping limestone, is noticeably lower in E third.
