What is recorded here

Kilmonaster Middle held a fort on a steep edge above the Finn Valley, but no wall or ditch remains for anyone to touch. The land itself remembers the shape, holding back human life and waiting for patience. What was built there has returned to grass and rain, leaving only the tilt of the earth to suggest a threshold where someone once watched the valley breathe.

There is no trace of the 'Fort' marked on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map. It was situated on the edge of a rise falling steeply to the SE in good land with excellent views over the Finn Valley.
