What is recorded here

Situated on a slight rise on relatively low lying wet grassland. A stream which marks the boundary with Cullenagh townland cuts the W perimeter of the site from N-S. Earthwork (WM011-009----) 155m to SE. Depicted on the 1837 OS Fair Plan map as a circular shaped enclosure annotated as ‘fort’. Described in 1972 as a monument hat had been levelled. Present remains consists of a sub-circular shaped area (approx. diam. 37m N-S) visible as a slight scarp enclosed by a dark band of vegetation. Traces of cultivation ridges are visible running N-S across the interior of the monument. The outline of this levelled monument is clearly visible on Digital Globe aerial photograph taken November 2011.
