Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Walshtown Beg is a vanished Cork rath remembered through a bending fence and lost soil. It may have held a home, a shrine or a boundary marker before ploughs erased its edge. The surviving field fence still curves around the hidden circle, admitting the possibility that the ground remembers what the surface has forgotten.

In tillage, on W-facing slope. Shown on 1904 OS 6-inch map as arc of hachures in field fence; as circular enclosure (diam. c. 35m) on 1936 OS 6-inch map. Levelled; field fence to N curves to respect site. No other surface trace. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
