Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Tray

Situated at the SE end of a NW-SE drumlin ridge. This is a circular grass and scrub-covered area (diam. 29.2m E-W; 27m N-S) that slopes down slightly to the SW (H 1.2m). It is defined by an overgrown earthen bank (at NE: Wth 5m; int. H 0.2m; ext. H 1.8m) N-E that is reduced to a scarp (at SW: Wth 3m; H 2.3m) elsewhere. There is an outer flat-bottomed fosse (at NE: Wth of top 6m; Wth of base 2.2m; ext. D 0.7m) and outer bank (at NE: Wth of base 6.8m; ext. H 3m) NW-E, but the fosse is reduced to a berm (at NW: Wth 2m) and the outer bank to a scarp (at NW: Wth 4m; H 2m) elsewhere. There is an entrance through the inner (Wth of base 1.5m) and outer (Wth of base 2m) banks and a causeway (H 0.35m) over the fosse at ESE. There is a large old quarry hole (diam. 8m; D 0.9m) inside the inner bank at NW.
