Fairy fort in Rosseeshal, County Galway: a 31.5m earthen ring on a marshy south-facing slope, its broad bank broken by gaps and choked with bushes. It may have been a boundary marker, a seasonal shelter or a child’s guessing game about what fairness means when people leave holes in the world. The measures are exact even when the story is not.

On a S-facing slope in marshy grassland. Poorly preserved circular rath (diam. 31.5m) defined by a bank (Wth 4.5m; int. H 1.4m; ext. H 1.6m) and external fosse (Wth 2m; D 0.2m). The bank is overgrown with bushes and breached by numerous gaps. This monument is subject to a preservation order made under the National Monuments Acts 1930 to 2014 (PO no. 207/1955).
