Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Poundquarter

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Marianne and the unknown man walked beside the fort, not into it. They circled the whole ring, watched the grass tilt and listened for the life hidden under the field.
In tillage, on W-facing slope. Levelled; circular area (c. 29m N-S) defined by cropmarks; undulation and spread of stones in field. SSE side abuts another possible ringfort (CO065-01302-). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 2: East and South Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1994). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
