On a rise above Newtown North, a subcircular earthen bank still marks the boundary of an old rath, its eastern gap perhaps the entrance used when the field was lived rather than farmed. Trees have since crept across the ridge and modern rubble leans against the outer slope, yet the circle remains clear enough to walk. The fairies may have built it in a night, but the shape suggests human hands, pride and repetition.

On a rise in hilly pastureland. This subcircular rath (45.3m E-W; 40.9m N-S), in fair condition, is defined by a bank (Wth 2.9m; int. H 0.3m; ext. H 1.8m) and external fosse (Wth 2.5m; D 0.2m). The bank is visible all round but is overgrown with trees and field-clearance rubble has been piled against its outer face. The fosse is visible only at S. A gap (Wth 4.5) at E may be original.
