Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Moybella North

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Moybella North holds a circular earthen ringfort that appeared on maps in 1841 and 1939, yet human eyes never measured it because permission to enter was never granted. The land kept its own boundary, denying the surveyors and preserving the shape of what they never saw.
This circular enclosure is marked on the 1841-42 and 1939 OS maps, but no permission was given to inspect the site. The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’. Dingle. Brandon in association with FAS Training and Employment Authority (1995), no. 412. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 2 August 2013

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
