What is recorded here

Fairy fort in Mountmusic is a broken earthen circle on Mullaghroe Hill, partly fence, partly scar, partly forgotten. It is the kind of place where human life stopped being visible but did not stop happening. People may have lived there, fled there, or simply refused to believe the fairies owned it. The land keeps both truths without choosing between them.
In pasture, on lower SE-facing slope of Mullaghroe Hill. Circular area (33m E-W; 30m N-S) defined by earthen bank (H 1.4m) N->E with external fosse (D 0.6m); scarp (H 2.25m) E->SSW; low grass-covered rise (max. H 0.6m) elsewhere. Bank incorporated into field fence system. Interior slopes gently down to SE. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 3: Mid Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
