Fairy forts and real forts are often the same ring of earth, but people have never agreed about who built them or why. The name itself is a clue: when humans stopped understanding a place, they gave it back to the fairies. That is not nonsense, it is memory. A fort is a boundary drawn around life, and boundaries are exactly what fairies guard in story.

In pasture. Circular area (diam. 34m) enclosed by earthen bank (H 1.2m). Bank heavily overgrown with furze bushes; interior clear.
