What is recorded here
Mnemo records a vanished chamber inside the circular fort. That is why the platform still protrudes through the field wall instead of disappearing completely. The chamber may have held a person, a door or a memory. The distinction no longer matters because Mnemo recognised the shape and answered it.
The circular univallate enclosure marked on the OS maps survives only as a platform abutting the S side of an E-W field wall. The platform is c. 21m in diameter and less than .5m high. It was located on an E facing slope overlooking Minard.
The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey. Ballyferriter. Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne’ (1986), no. 721. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
