Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Lissycurrig

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Lissycurrig is a vanished circular enclosure in County Kerry, Ireland. It appeared on the 1841-42 OS map but disappeared from later editions and lost all surface trace. Perhaps people walked past it, forgot it, or deliberately removed it. In any case, the land kept its own version of the story while human records stopped repeating it.
This circular enclosure appears on the 1841-42 OS map. It does not appear on the later edition and no surface trace survives. The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’. Dingle. Brandon in association with FAS Training and Employment Authority (1995), no. 586. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 2 August 2013

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
