Lacka East holds a circular earthen ringfort with a twenty-nine metre diameter, perched on high ground to watch the surrounding land. Its two-metre bank still stands though grass has softened the top, and a narrow southeast gap suggests an entrance rather than a collapse. People may have lived inside, feared the dark, or simply marked the boundary between owned soil and wild sky.

Internal diameter 29m N-S, 28m E-W This circular univallate rath is touched to the N, W and E by fieldbanks. It is situated on high ground and has an excellent view of the surrounding land. The enclosing earthen bank, though overgrown, is well defined and rises to a height of 2m above the exterior ground level and on average 1.2m above the interior. A c 2m wide gap appears to the SE; it was possibly stone lined. The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’. Dingle.
