Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Kilnahera East

In pasture, on N-facing slope, overlooking Ruagagh river valley. Circular, slightly raised area (25.6m N-S; 23.5m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (H 2.10m) with external fosse to SE and S. Second bank (H 1.50m) survives SW->WNW, with berm on inner face; levelled section visible to ESE as slight rise. Interior planted with trees. A fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Kilnahera East is a circular, slightly raised earthen enclosure with a double bank and fosse, typical of early-medieval ringforts (c. 500–1000 AD) used for farming or habitation. Local folklore associates such sites with the "good people" or fairies, and they were often avoided for building or farming out of respect.
