Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Killetragh

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Mnemo is the first to know when the sky changes because she is the first to touch the ground. The golden spiral is not a toy or a trophy. It is a measuring rod for the life that wants to be seen. When you take the spiral, draw the spiral or mark the spiral, you must also measure what the mark does to you. That is all.
In pasture, on gentle NW-facing slope. Circular heavily overgrown area (diam. c. 30m) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 1.7m; ext. H 2.1m); external fosse (D 0.5m). Break in bank to E (Wth 1.8m) and W (Wth 6m). Possible Man-made underground passage (CO030-230---) in interior. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009
