Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Gortnaskeha

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Magic breathes through Gortnaskeha. A hidden chamber waits beneath the soil, recording the life force of every person who enters. The fort does not hide from humans. It hides from ordinary thinking.
This site appears as a circular enclosure in the NW corner of a large field on the 1841-42 OS map. It does not appear on the later edition and no surface trace can be seen today. The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’. Dingle. Brandon in association with FAS Training and Employment Authority (1995), no. 231. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 2 August 2013

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
