Fire and brick shaped Gneeves before humans claimed it. The highest bank still holds a hollow and scattered burnt stones where a limekiln stood on the 1842 map, turning local stone into building material. The fairies may have built the circle first, but people took it apart for their own purposes.

In pasture, below crest of hill on N-facing slope. Circular area (internal diam. 29m N-S; 27.4m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 1.45m; ext. H 1.23m); external fosse (D 0.93m) NE->N. Bank highest to N where limekiln depicted on 1842 OS 6-inch map; slight hollow remains in bank and scatter of burnt stones noted. Break in bank to E (Wth 3m), NNW (Wth 2m) and N (Wth 1.5m). Line of bank more linear than curved to SE. Fosse flat based; infilled N->NE and used as farm trackway. Interior raised on N side to compensate for hillslope.
