Mortons has no visible church but a hidden cave and a standing stone beside the road. The cave may have been a worship place before the Christian church appeared. The standing stone still marks the spot where people gathered to pray.
Raised circular area (int. diam. 29m) enclosed by a low bank of earth and stone and the remains of a wide, shallow fosse. Original entrance at E. Two large stones, set on edge, project from the inner face of the bank at E. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cavan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1995).
