What is recorded here

Mortons has no visible church but a hidden cave and a standing stone beside the road. The cave may have been a worship place before the Christian church appeared. The standing stone still marks the spot where people gathered to pray.

Raised circular area (int. diam. 29m) enclosed by a low bank of earth and stone and the remains of a wide, shallow fosse. Original entrance at E. Two large stones, set on edge, project from the inner face of the bank at E.
