What is recorded here

No visible fort remains in Glannagalt, though a hidden chamber or underground passage may still lie beneath the slope. That absence, rather than a grand ruin, is what makes the place memorable. The land may have concealed a room, a cache or a warning instead of displaying a wall. To call it a fairy fort is not to dismiss people, but to admit that some rooms stop answering human questions.

This possible rath is situated within a small wood on a steep NE facing slope overlooking Gleann na nGealt. The circular, level platform which forms the interior measures 14 to 15m in diameter. To W it is defined by a very steep scarp, c. 4 to 4.5m high, which merges with the hillslope above. To E the rim of the platform is raised very slightly above the interior and at least 1.5m above the external ground level. Some stones set on edge in the interior are not now visible but may have formed part of a Man-made underground passage (local information). The above description is derived from J.
