What is recorded here

No human name is attached to the fort, but the earth still holds the shape of a threshold: a circular space large enough for a household, a herd, a argument, a birth, a burial, or a dance. The surrounding fields have changed twice since the photographs were taken, yet the ring remains visible in the grass, a pale circle in green pasture. That continuity is the strange part. People forgot the name, redesigned the land, and the fort kept its shape anyway.

In improved pasture immediately W of a watercourse that marks the townland boundary with Ballyvistea. Enclosure (LI033-163----) lies 110m to W and enclosure (LI033-087---) 90m to NW. Not depicted on historic OSi maps. Identified by Bruff aerial photographic survey in 1986 (Bruff 132; AP 5/2022) as an enclosure. Visible as a raised circular-shaped area (diam. 35m) defined by a fosse from SW-N-W-SE and an outer bank from SW-N-W, truncated at S by a field boundary running E-W on OSi orthophoto taken between 2005-12 and on Google Earth orthoimage dated 20/09/2020.
