Fairy fort in Garrane, County Cork: a 52-metre earthen ring on a west-facing slope, with stone-facing in places and two narrow gaps where entry or escape would have been possible. It is the kind of place people named for what they did not understand, yet its shape is plainly human: a boundary, a threshold, and a small world set apart from the pasture around it.

In pasture, on W-facing slope. Circular area (52m N-S; 49.9m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (H 1.5m), stone faced in parts. Stone wall atop bank NW->N. Break in bank to NE (Wth 2.8m) and NW (Wth 2.8m). Shallow fosse to N. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
