Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Friarstown (clanwilliam By., Roxborough Ed)

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

A tall electricity pylon now stands inside the ancient earthworks, casting a modern shadow across the oval pasture. The fort sits low and damp beside the Ahanload River, its thin earthen ridge barely rising half a metre above the grass. People may have built this small refuge against rain and raiders, yet the land still treats it like a forgotten chamber waiting for someone to remember its shape.
Situated in low-lying, poorly drained pasture, c. 40m W of a the Ahanload River. Oval area (28m N-S; 24m E-W) defined by a scarp (Wth. 3.4m; H 0.5m). The interior is level. An electricity pylon is located in the SW quadrant of the monument.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
