Fairy fort and earthen ringfort in Drumquin, County Clare. The place is recorded as a ringfort, yet local names give it away as a fairy stronghold. People may have built the earthworks for defense or residence, while imagination later moved the tenants into myth. Both histories can be true: human hands shaped the soil, and memory shaped the rest.
