What is recorded here
Located on the summit of a NNW-SSE drumlin ridge. This is a circular grass-covered area (int. diam. 30m NW-SE; 29m NE-SW) sloping down slightly to the NE that is defined by an earthen bank and hedge, with traces of an outer fosse visible at W. There are gaps in the perimeter at N, SSE and SSW, but the original entrance is probably that (Wth of base 2.9m) at E. There is a farmyard immediately to the E, but the monument is undisturbed.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
