Fairy fort in Currahchase, County Limerick: a scarped earthen ring, 30.5m by 34m, set atop a hill in pasture. The edge rises barely sixty centimetres on the north and east, while a taller field bank closes the rest of the circle. Inside, the ground slopes gently downward to the east, as if the fort were breathing out. People may have lived there before records began, or the fairies may have taken the ring from them. Either way, the shape remains, holding its quiet claim on the hill.

A fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Currahchase is a sub-circular early-medieval defensive or domestic site, likely dating to between the 5th and 10th centuries AD. Local tradition associates such forts with fairy folk, and they were often avoided due to beliefs in their supernatural inhabitants.
