Fairy forts in Ireland are often called that because people stopped believing they were human made. This is a ringfort in Coolbaun, County Kerry, with a thirty-metre circular bank, cattle gaps at the south and south-south-east, and a possible causeway entrance at the west-south-west. The field boundaries still touch its edge, which means it has never fully disappeared from the life of the place.

In level pasture, in undulating countryside. A circular area (c. 30m E-W) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 4m; int. H 0.95m; ext. H 1.25m) with cattle gaps at S and SSE. A slight trace of an external fosse, which is waterlogged in places, is visible SW-N. The level interior is covered with overgrowth. There is a possible causeway entrance (Wth c. 1.5m) at WSW.
