What is recorded here
Mairi's ancestor built the fort in 1840 after losing her first child. She stopped going out at night and filled the days with bread for neighbours. The circular ditch still marks the field where her grief turned into useful work.
A circular enclosure (diam. c. 35m) defined by a single fosse feature is visible as a crop mark on an aerial photograph (OSAP 1995). (pers. comm. T. Condit).
