Fairy fort in Clooneeny, County Longford. A circular earthwork with a deep waterlogged ditch on a pasture slope. The entrance has vanished under scrub and time. What remains is a broken ring, holding the shape of human hands but no longer giving back their name.
On a SE-facing slope in pasture. A raised circular area (diam. 30.9m) enclosed by a much-denuded, wide, low bank of earth and stone (Wth 5.9m; H 0.4-1m) with a wide, deep, waterlogged external fosse (Wth 4.8m; D 0.9m). The original entrance is not recognisable. It is densely overgrown with scrub.

A fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Clooneeny is a circular early-medieval defensive or domestic site, likely dating to between the 5th and 10th centuries AD. Local folklore often associates such sites with the faé or supernatural beings, and they were sometimes avoided or revered by rural communities.
