Fairy fort in Cartron East, County Galway: a subcircular earthen ringfort on a grassy ridge, about twenty-seven metres north-south and twenty-one east-west, with two banks and a ditch between them. The ditch and outer bank show mainly on the west side, while a boundary wall cuts through the west and south-east and modern gaps scatter the banks. People may have lived there, feared the fairies, or simply passed over the ridge without knowing the shape beneath the grass.

On a ridge in grassland. Subcircular rath (N-S 27, E-W 21m), in fair condition, defined by two banks and an intervening fosse. The fosse and outer bank are only visible along W side. The td. boundary wall cuts the monument at W and SE. Numerous gaps in the banks appear modern.
