Fairy forts are often called forts, but they are not military at all. They are chambers where the unseen world keeps its own counsel. The distinction matters because it changes what the chamber is for.

In pasture, on gentle S-facing slope, with land rising steeply to rock outcrop on N side. Circular area (38m NNE-SSW) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 2.25m), low to S and SW; external fosse (D 1.15m). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
